What kind of bread is at your house?

“She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness.” Proverbs 31:27

I’ve had a lot of Bread of Idleness stocking my pantry for quite some time. At the end of the day, I would sit back and wonder why I had not accomplished great things or, well, even the laundry. I could find plenty of reasons; someone was bound to have a bad attitude I had to deal with, hubby needed me to do something for him, had to go to speech, etc etc blah blah blah.

The real reason, get ready, was all that bread of idleness on my pantry shelves. I was stocked!

The Lord has just really blessed me with working in my heart and dealing with my attitude. Today, I chose not to be idle. Even though I could have justified sitting around, I chose not to. And you know what wonderful, amazing things happened? My girls chose to not have hands of idleness either!

Bekah was not feeling well this morning and Mary told me that after she finished her chores, she would do Bekah’s. They made fabric slingshots (and they work!) Bekah did get to feeling better and helped Mary learn to ride a bike without training wheels. All day, we were all working for a purpose (not busy, not hectic) just working. Happily. Joyfully. Together.

By lunch all school was completed except for Spelling. By 3 all “planned” cleaning was done and dinner was cooking. I kept telling the girls things they could clean and they were giggling and racing to get it done. My house looked wonderful, smelled fabulous! All my laundry was clean, folded and put away!

But even better, our hearts were happy. I think I’ll just toss that pantry full of Bread of Idleness. Bad for your heart.
