Kerplink, kerplank, kerplunk….

those three little sounds will gather all the kiddos together…little and big!

Blueberries for Sal by Robert McCloskey is simply a joy to read! A delight! I can not even count the times that we had read this book!!!

After much thought and debating with myself, I decided to do a bit of Before Five in a Row with Lydia before she “outgrew” these books. Most of them we have read; more than once. However, I wanted to take time with her to really get to know these books. I am also tossing around the idea of doing a lapbook.

Of course, I was saving this book for tomorrow but someone discovered it in “Mommy’s Book Bag” and after a sweet “please, read this” I couldn’t say no. So up Blueberry Hill we went. While I was reading, Mary was taking a shower. She walked into the living room and said, “hey, you read it without me.” Oops, sorry dear. What was I thinking?

So Blueberries for Sal get a Tribal Thumbs Up! Next trip to the library, grab a copy and enjoy picking blueberries with Sal!

One of our favorites here! In fact, we will be reading it again soon. When J and R were smaller, I bought little tin buckets from walmart and a bag of wooden beads. We painted the beads blue and then we had great fun making them go kerplink, kerplank, kerplunk in our buckets. I still have them around here somewhere. I think it’s time to do this with the current littles!
