A Good Read…
Last week at the library, I ventured away for my list and sought out some unexpected treasures. As I was flipping through some books, I saw Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney.

We have read this book several times and enjoy it always. A sweet, sweet book. I noticed that our library had another book by the same author so I grabbed it. I love visiting with old friends. And we found a treasure!

Island Boy…a story about a boy named Matthias and a beloved island. A beautiful story and beautifully illustrated. I hated to see it end. Even my 10yr old daughter was gathered around as we read about Matthias. This is one you don’t want to miss!
I’m definitely going to be looking for more books by Ms. Cooney. If you read Island Boy, let me know how you like it!

Both of those are favorites here as well! There is another of her books that we did not like, but I can’t remember now what it was…I should ask our library dude in residence, I’m sure he’d remember…
We love Miss Rumphius also! But we haven’t read Island Boy, we’ll add that to our never ending list, lol. Have you read Roxaboxen? I’m pretty sure that’s by B. Cooney as well, that’s a favorite in our house, or was til the youngest tore it apart recently.
I found your blog when I was searching for a family integrated church in Rocky Mount, NC. We will be moving there shortly, my husband starts his job there on Mon, the 9th & we will follow soon after. I found your blog in a link through the faithfellowship site, that’s your hubby, right? We have 6 chicks also, 18 mo up to 11yr. Anyway, just wanted to say “hi” and hopefully we will be able to stop in to Faith Fellowship when we get to Rocky Mount.
In Him,
