Consequences of Disobedience

This episode of disobedience actually occurred a few weeks ago but I couldn’t share it until I had the pictures transferred to my computer.

Lydia, 6 and Caleb,8 have been buddies since Lydia came home from the hospital. Every night he climbed into the crib to sleep with her. It was precious! They still love to hang out and get into trouble together, lol. A beautiful thing that sibling bond.

A few weeks ago I told them it was time to clean up and get ready for lunch. Naturally my sweet, darling children obeyed immediately. Or not. I reminded them once what they were supposed to be doing and went back to preparing lunch. Then I hear crying. And running. And then I see Lydia and blood. And she was holding her tooth.

She was holding a tooth that wasn’t loose while the tooth that was actually loose was still hanging on. How did that happen??? So glad you asked. They were goofing off instead of cleaning. Lydia was sitting in a chair kicking her legs at Caleb. Caleb, in return, was pushing her legs back at her. They were laughing and having a grand time. Until Lydia’s knee connected with Lydia’s mouth. And knocked out the tooth that wasn’t loose. You can tell in the above picture how loose it was. One good wiggle and it would have been out.

However, I’m a dental wimp. Yes, it’s true. I can’t stand to see my children even wiggle a loose tooth. No way could I pull one. I comforted Lydia. Helped her clean up the blood. However, I was literally gagging every time I looked at that dangling tooth. Thankfully, in situations like this, they want their daddy. Woo hoo! I sent him a message letting him know the situation so he would be prepared.

As soon as Eddie was home, he took good care of her. Giggle. Actually, she decided when he got home that she would rather just wait and let the tooth come out on its own. Smart girl. That would be my chosen method as well.

It was only a short while later when the tooth came out on its own. No bleeding, no pain. Just fell out of her mouth.

And that is the consequences of disobedience, folks. Cute consequence if you ask me. She told me tonight that she is tired of losing her teeth. Sadly, another one is getting ready to fall out. Caleb agrees that helping to knock it out is not a good idea.
