Homeschooling Helps

One issue that a lot of homeschooling moms deal with is what to do with the little ones while you are trying to educate the older children. One can never have too many ideas, right? Right. Maybe my tip will be helpful to someone else!

I have a darling 2 year old Volcano. She’s cute and adorable and sweet and into everything. And she wants to be doing what everyone else is doing. And she wants to be beside me through it all. This can make explaining long division a bit difficult and teaching someone to read while a 2 year tries to steal your book is always fun.

Here’s what you do….lie down on the floor with the excited 6 year old to have your reading lesson. Give the 2 year old a brush and have her sit on your back to “comb mommy’s hair”. Make sure you hide the hair detangler because she really LOVES to spray it on hair that really doesn’t need detangling. Have your chiropractor’s number handy because you are seriously going to need adjusting when you are able to pull yourself up off the floor.

Also, make sure your 11 year old has a camera handy for when “combing mommy’s hair” just isn’t interesting enough and someone needs a “book break”.

She’s a big Beatrix Potter fan.

And even though she is busy wreaking havoc on our school day, she still finds time to stop and smell the, um, feet.

Please note: This is not a joke. Between my hair and my feet, the Volcano was seriously entertained for almost an hour. Add in that Mr. Cuteness was napping and we had some serious education going. Never mind that I didn’t walk straight for the rest of the day. It is all about dying to self. And I wouldn’t change a thing.

you know what is funny. I would so rather have the playing with feet than the combing of the hair!

I’m with Rachel…Aaron LOVES to comb/brush/play with my hair and I cannot stand it.

Rachel and you are just crazy, lol. I love having my hair brushed but can’t stand to have someone messing with my feet. It was all I could do not to sling her off of me.

    Love it!!!

I’m okay with hair but the feet would have driven me nuts. Well, and I can’t lay on the floor on my stomach!
