Recyclers Strike Again

There is a bit of confusion in our home. I throw things in the trash. You know things like: empty boxes, empty toilet paper rolls, and random pieces of string. That is I throw those things away if one of my Recyclers doesn’t come and grab it first.

Do you have Recyclers? I have more than one and getting the trash out of the house can be quiet challenging; almost a covert operation. Before I even move toward the trash can, it begins. “Can I have that box?”  “Do you need that piece of paper?” “Can I have that bottle when you are done?’

I did a dangerous thing. I did. I have given my children imaginations and I continue to encourage it. My rule for the Recyclers is simple. You can have all the ‘trash” you want, but if I trip over it or see it on the floor, it will be trash. They stash it, hide it and hoard it up until the perfect opportunity to pull it all out and bury my dining room table under it all.

Hannah recently used part of a Velveeta box, empty toilet paper roll, other cardboard and more to create a cozy home for a plastic bear. Basic supplies of glue, scissors, tape, etc are always on hand and she used them was pure skill. I was quite impressed with her little bear den. Cutting up a twist tie to make clothespins was pure genius.

I love my Recyclers. Imaginations are a beautiful thing! Any Recyclers in your home? If so, I’d love to see some of their creations. If not, gather up some random pieces of ‘clean trash” and see what happens!
