What’s On Your Nightstand? August 2014

It seems that if I wait for time to sit and enjoy a good read, it just doesn’t happen. I decided that I just needed to purpose to find at least time to read a chapter each day. While I’m not going through a stack of books as quickly as I would like, I am making progress!

In August I have read two selections that would not normally make it into my book pile: The Ghost Map and The Bronte’ Sisters. I was surprised to find how much I enjoyed non-fiction reading. I plan to keep at least one non-fiction book going.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling were also read this month. I am slowly working through this series. My two oldest girls would appreciate me reading a bit faster as they have to wait for me to pass them along. We have been enjoying sharing these books together. I’m hoping to finish the series out in September.

I have a couple of books in progress:

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J. K. Rowling

The Narnian – The Life and Imagination of C. S. Lewis – Alan Jacobs

I’d love to hear what is on your nightstand!

    • I haven’t gotten far into The Narnian but have enjoyed it so far. It is making want to read the Chronicle of Narnia again.

I had no plans to read Harry Potter until my 15 year old asked me why we hadn’t read them. I won’t be giving them to my younger readers yet but my olders and I have had some great discussions.
