Books are a lot like chocolate…..
Good chocolate….good book. Two beautiful things.
I was sitting back thinking about my two big girls; Bekah 8 (and oh so close to 9!) and Mary 7.5. Both love to read. Books are everywhere in our home. A new book is a treasure. I noticed something interesting though…..
When they get candy/chocolate, Mary savors hers. She may sort it if it is something like M&Ms, count how many she has etc. She does not go for instant gratification. She can set it to the side and wait until the perfect moment to savor each delicious taste of that sweet treat.
She reads the same way. She will read a chapter or two, maybe even a page or two, and then say she is saving it for tomorrow. She savors her book. Makes it last as long as possible. Enjoys each and ever page.
Bekah, so much like her dear sweet mother, embraces the moment I guess? She gets her chocolate/candy and well no time like the present? Why wait! It is delicious, can’t eat just one bite, must have more!!!!! Oh, it was so good. How can you not eat it right now!?!?!?!
Yep, she reads the same way. She gets a good book and who cares about the rest of the world? Read it now, all of it, can’t put it down. She must know what happens next. Must finish it now. It is so good!!!
Night and day those two girls. But they both love to read and I love to see and hear them. What a blessing!

Oh — I wish I had 2 girls to compare… Mine are 8 years apart… but my boys — they are coming of age… and I’ve got 3 to compare. Won’t that be interesting.Oh you know… not compare in the bad way… compare in the “interesting” way. I love to see the differences. ÜI’m NOT a hoarder — of chocolate or good books. LOL
