Bekah….14. I love little kiddos. Babies. Toddlers. Preschoolers. When I had Bekah, I was genuinely concerned about the teenage years. I just couldn’t imagine how to be a mom of a teenager. Today, I am so thankful to be the mom of this teenager. What a joy and a delight she is to me!
We share a common love…a cozy spot, a good book and chocolate. She is a pro in the kitchen and loves the little ones. Her skills as a knitter amaze me; she can out knit me any day. We are learning Algebra together and sharing laughter and more than one fit of frustration. She always has a smile. She writes beautifully and I am honored that she shares it with me.
I am looking forward to the years to come…. Happy Birthday, Bekah B.!
Although I do not have much time to devote to knitting, I do enjoy the clicking of the needles. I don’t have speed and I can’t say that I’m all that great at knitting but I love it. The steady rhythm of the clicking of needles is so relaxing. I even love to look at my needles. I have a few of the Harmony Wood Circular Needles that are interchangeable from KnitPicks and I love them. I hope to be able to pick up more tips soon. (I won’t admit how much the new Sunstruck needles are tempting me….)
It has been some time since I have cast on a new knitting project. With so much on my to do list, knitting was not even on the list. However, I have two talented knitters in my home and I just couldn’t resist the opportunity to join in the knitting fun. Bekah and Mary are both working on new knitting projects and the projects are fun, fun, fun!
Bekah is working on a Rag Doll that is so funky and cute! I can’t give away details but it is a gift for someone. I love how Bekah is not afraid to try a new project and learn as she goes. She has not fear of the knitting frog. Here the Rag Doll pattern she is using. I meant to snap a picture today but time slipped away from me.
Mary’s project is just adorable. I can’t wait to see it finished. Elefante is on Mary’s needles. It is coming along very nicely. She does have a bit of a bump to deal with. The ears are crocheted and Mary doesn’t crochet. She will need some support from Bekah to help with the ears. Elefante is in high demand with a certain 4 year old her. Sadly, Mary does not like to do repeat knitting.
My project? I was going to do a dishcloth. Yep. Exciting, I know. Dishcloths are easy. I can stop and go and it isn’t any trouble. Knits up relatively quick. I was not having any fun! I decided it was time to join the girls for something fun. Headed over to Ravelry to see something fun and easy to do. I chose a lovely shirt/dress pattern for Martha called Longevity. Hopefully it will be a quick knit. I would love to make a matching hat and/or leggings. I will also be recruiting Bekah to crochet me a flower or two to accent the dress. I’m sure she isn’t busy!
It was a lovely way to end the day. The girls sitting around, knitting, chatting and laughing at Martha trying to catch all the yarn.
Proverbs 31:13 She seeks wool and flax, And willingly works with her hands.
On January 31st, my Rebekah turned 13. It seems like only yesterday that she was a chunky, little bundle of sweetness in my arms. Today she is taller than me!
Rebekah was such a blessing as a first child. She fell into a lovely schedule; I could set the clock by her sleeping and eating. She was a content little one who loved to be on the move. As soon as she was crawling, she wanted to walk. As soon as she could walk, she wanted to run.
When she was 14.5 months old her sister arrived and she was my right hand. She is still my right hand. Always willing to help out a little one, whip up a pizza for dinner or clean in the kitchen. Such a blessing to all of us!
I have always loved to hear her laugh and see her beautiful smile. (She is probably not smiling at me posting all these pictures of her. Hee hee.) We share a love of chocolate, books, chocolate, knitting, chocolate and books. I love being her mom!
It has been a pleasure to watch her become such a sweet young lady…..I can’t wait to see what the coming year holds for her. I love you, Bekah!!!
