Despite sitting up too late Sunday night reading, I was out of bed bright and early Monday morning. Ready to seize the day!!!
Menu plan was completed and the grocery list was ready! The grocery shopping was conquered in an hour. Apparently no one shops on Monday mornings. Yeah for me!
Monday: Breakfast for Dinner! (Grits, eggs (scrambled or fried), biscuits and homemade sausage gravy).
Tuesday – Tacos (Mary’s night so it has to be tacos, right?)
Wednesday – Beef stew, salad, rolls
Thursday – Spaghetti, salad, french bread
Friday – Shredded beef sandwiches, fries, and dessert
Saturday – Baked potatoes and salad
Sunday – Veggies and dip (Church fellowship meal)
I was very excited not only with our speed but that we managed to beat the rain.
I was too optimistic.
It rained when Caleb and I were hauling trash. The “easy” to reach dumpster was broken so we had to use the old school dumpster. The ones that are twice my height. So in the pouring down rain, Caleb with a hip incision that limited his mobility and the short pregnant lady wrestled the trash into the dumpsters. Needless to saw we were soaked by the time we arrived home. However, we had fun and knocked an item off my hardworking husband’s to do list, so who can complain about a bit of rain?
My first ever attempt at sausage gravy was a smashing success. When I had people offering to eat it with a spoon (who needs biscuits?) I knew I had a keeper. It will definitely be in our Breakfast for Dinner rotation.
The day rolled along rather well. At least until we hit bedtime.
I sat in the hallway reading aloud to my younger five. Sam inquired if there were any dragons in the story. (I was reading the Princess and the Goblins). I told him that he should be quiet and listen. Then he would know if there was a dragon.
He relaxed in bed for three chapters. When I was done reading he informed me that there were no dragons. He was very disappointed. He requested a book with dragons or at least a dinosaur. I suppose I need to go browse the library catalog. Dragons. Four year old boy. Got it.
As I look back over the day, I’m thinking it was an excellent day. How was your Monday? Was it a rough one? Read Psalm 107. We read it this morning. Absolutely beautiful words. It really helped my heart and mind stay focused on the Word today.
The Tribe is running a bit behind today and I don’t think there is any hope of catching up. That means that it is time to flex and roll with it.
A flex day is really what this momma needs! Amazing how Caleb having surgery has wiped me out physically. The combination of stress and pregnancy hormones being hard at work, I suppose.(I’ll share more about his surgery later this week.)
After a bit of mandatory work, the kiddos are going to enjoy the glorious sunshine and mild temperatures that will disappear tomorrow. I will be diligently working on school planning, book requesting and grocery shopping.
Thankfully the menu is planned and that is a beautiful thing!
Monday – Spaghetti, salad, french bread
Tuesday – Tacos, rice, chips & salsa
Wednesday – Baked chicken, salad
Thursday – Breakfast for dinner
Friday – Bekah’s Birthday Dinner of Chicken Pot Pie
Saturday – Shredded Beef sandwiches, chips, veggies
Sunday – Veggies & dips, chips (Church fellowship)
Alrighty. Time to get to work. Have a great Monday!!
